Come as you are.
Right inside the studio entranceway, a small sign hangs off to the left. It reads, Come as you are.
It’s a simple message, but it holds something important for me.
Many people hesitate before trying yoga for the first time. They worry that they are not flexible enough, calm enough, strong enough, or experienced enough to belong in a yoga class. Some feel nervous about walking into a space where everyone else might seem to know what they are doing.
But yoga was never meant to be a place where we arrive already prepared.
It is a place where we begin exactly where we are.
Some days that might mean arriving with energy and curiosity. Other days we might come feeling tired, distracted, or overwhelmed. Sometimes we step onto the mat carrying stress from work, worries about family, or simply the heaviness of a busy week.
All of that is welcome here.
Yoga does not ask us to become someone else before we begin. It simply invites us to notice what is already present in the body and the mind, and to work gently from there.
At The Quiet Ground, the goal is not to perform the poses perfectly or to leave every class feeling transformed. The practice is much quieter than that. It is simply the act of returning to the mat, breathing, and learning to listen. Identifying what you can leave behind and what you choose to carry with you.
Nothing more than that. No expectations. Just Come as you Are.
