About Jennifer

Jennifer Kelley is the founder of The Quiet Ground. She has practiced yoga for more than fifteen years and spent many of those years studying with a longtime local teacher whose mentorship continues to shape her practice. Jennifer completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through Yoga Farm Ithaca and is a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. She will begin her 300-hour training this summer as part of her continuing study of yoga and meditation.

Before opening The Quiet Ground, Jennifer spent more than twenty-five years as an educator teaching writing and literature. She also taught yoga and mindfulness to teenagers and has worked with young dancers in the community, helping them develop strength, balance, and body awareness through yoga.

Her background in teaching and her personal yoga practice have shaped a deep appreciation for attention and reflection. These qualities naturally inform the way she teaches yoga. At times, practice at The Quiet Ground may include poetry, short readings, or quiet conversation alongside movement and breath.

The Quiet Ground grew from a dream Jennifer carried for many years: to create a small place where people could gather to practice yoga thoughtfully and explore its deeper teachings together. Alongside regular classes, she hopes to offer series that invite reflection, conversation, and shared learning so that practice can deepen and community can grow.

For Jennifer, yoga is ultimately a practice of paying attention and returning again and again to the quiet ground beneath our feet.
